Pre-Matric Scholarship Scheme for SC and Others
Revised guidelines for the scheme covering Classes I to X.
Two Core Components
Component-I: Scholarship for SC Students
- Target Group: Students belonging to Scheduled Castes (SC).
- Classes Covered: Study in **Class IX and X** (Full-time).
- Income Ceiling: Parent/Guardian's annual income must **not exceed ₹2.50 lakh**.
Component-II: Children of Unclean/Hazardous Occupation Workers
- Target Group: Children of parents in specified unclean and hazardous occupations.
- Classes Covered: Study in **Classes I to X** (Full-time).
- Key Occupations: Manual Scavengers, Tanners & Flayers, Waste pickers, and Persons in hazardous cleaning.
- Income Ceiling: **NO family income ceiling** for this component.

*Additional Allowance: A **10% extra allowance** is granted to Divyang (Disabled) students.
Funding Pattern
- **General States:** 60% Centre : 40% State.
- **North Eastern States/Uttarakhand/HP:** 90% Centre : 10% State.
- **Union Territories (without Legislatures):** 100% funds provided by the Centre.
- **Disbursement:** Central share is released via **DBT mode directly** into the student's bank account (w.e.f 2022-23).
Application & Documentation FAQs
How do I submit a Fresh Application?
Visit the **National Scholarship Portal (NSP)** and use the "Student Login" option. A **Temporary ID** is generated upon initial save, followed by a **Permanent Registration ID** upon final submission (used for renewal/tracking).
What is the process for Renewal Applications?
Renewal students apply using their previous Application ID and Date of Birth. The scholarship is intended to be **auto-renewed** based on attendance and institutional confirmation of promotion.
Is Aadhaar Mandatory for Application?
Aadhaar ID/EID is required for initial registration, but not strictly mandatory. However, **Aadhaar authentication is mandatory for renewals** if not previously provided. Parents are encouraged to link their bank accounts with Aadhaar for faster DBT payments via the Aadhaar Payment Bridge (APB).
Do I need to upload physical documents?
**NO** document upload is required for this scheme as all data should be auto-verified via linked databases (e.g., Digilocker) using the Aadhaar number as a link. Documents are only required for scholarship amounts **more than ₹50,000 per annum**.
Post Matric Scholarship for Scheduled Tribe (ST) Students
A Centrally Sponsored Scheme by the Ministry of Tribal Affairs (Applicable from 01-04-2022).
Conditions of Eligibility
Tribal Status & Domicile
The student must belong to a **Scheduled Tribe (ST)** and should have passed Matriculation (Class X) or a higher examination.
The scholarship is awarded by the Government of the State/UT of the applicant's **domicile**.
Income Criteria
The family income from all sources must **not exceed ₹2,50,000/-** (Two lakh fifty thousand only) per annum.
For an **orphan** supported by a guardian, the income criteria shall **not apply**.
*Income certificate is required only once, at the time of admission, and is valid for the entire duration of the course.
Application & Disbursement (DBT)
The student must have a valid bank account in a Scheduled Bank **linked with Aadhaar and Mobile number**.
The student should **not be receiving any other scholarship/stipend**.
Value of Scholarship (Fee & Stipend)
The scholarship consists of two components: payment of compulsory non-refundable fees and a monthly stipend.

2. Maximum Fee Ceiling (For Private Institutes - GoI Support)
- **Engineering Courses:** Maximum cap of **₹2.50 lakh** per annum.
- **MBBS/MS/MD Courses:** Maximum cap of **₹6.00 lakh** per annum.
- **Other Courses:** Maximum cap of **₹1.00 lakh** per annum.
Special Allowance for Divyangjan (Disabled Students)
- **Hostellers:** Additional stipend of **₹9,600** annually (₹800 per month).
- **Day Scholars:** Additional stipend of **₹7,200** annually (₹600 per month).
Application, Renewal & Duration
How to Apply
Applicants must apply online on the **National Scholarship Portal (NSP)** or the respective State's Online Platform.
Students studying in a state different from their domicile must submit their application to their **domicile State** authorities.
Renewal & Promotion
The scholarship is payable for the **entire duration of the course**.
Renewal is granted from year to year provided the student has successfully completed the previous class and is **promoted to the next class**.
If a student fails, they are ineligible for the scholarship until they clear the class and get promoted.
